Mail-in ballots for voters are scheduled to begin going out on September 19, 2026, and will continue to be mailed throughout that week. “My election staff and I are currently in communication with the USPS, and we are working to ensure that all mail-in ballots will be delivered in a timely and efficient manner to Mercer County voters,” said Clerk Sollami Covello. “I encourage voters to review the County Clerk’s website to determine when ballots are expected to arrive in their municipality and to contact my office after two weeks, or after October 8th, 2026, if they have not received their ballot to arrange for a duplicate ballot. ”Sollami Covello said her office is preparing to take additional steps to assist voters who do not receive their ballots. If a voter has not received a ballot within approximately ten days after the mailing date, the County Clerk’s Office is prepared to hand-deliver a ballot or send one by overnight mail, as appropriate. Voters who do not receive their mail-in ballot are encouraged to contact the County Clerk’s Office as soon as possible by emailing the Clerk’s Election Office directly at mercervotes@mercercounty.org, or calling the office at 609-989-6494, or at 609-989-6820. Voters should also know that if they do not receive their mail-in ballot, they may still vote at their polling location using a provisional ballot. Mercer County Voters Encouraged to Use County Drop Boxes To return completed mail-in ballots, the County Clerk’s Office encourages voters to use Mercer County’s secure ballot drop boxes rather than relying on the postal service. Drop boxes are picked up daily, directly by staff from the Mercer County Board of Elections. Mercer County voters may return a mail-in ballot to any ballot drop box located within Mercer County, regardless of the municipality in which they reside. A complete list of Mercer County ballot drop-box locations is available on the Mercer County Clerk’s Elections website; or at www.mercercounty.org Sollami Covello also clarified the respective responsibilities of the County Clerk’s Office and the Mercer County Board of Elections concerning polling locations and poll workers. “The Board of Elections oversees staffing polling locations and conducts board worker training.” said Sollami Covello.
