The Issue
East Windsor has a deep-rooted history in New Jersey and has grown into an increasingly diverse community. Residents from many different backgrounds have chosen to build their homes, businesses, raise their families, and contribute to the civic life of our township. As East Windsor continues to evolve, our local government should ensure that all residents have a voice in shaping an inclusive and welcoming community.
We, the undersigned residents of East Windsor, support the establishment of a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Advisory Committee to serve as an advisory body to the Township Council. The Committee would provide recommendations on policies, programs, and community initiatives that promote equal opportunity, accessibility, and inclusion for all residents. Its work may include issues related to race, ethnicity, culture, religion, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, and socioeconomic status, while encouraging collaboration and engagement across the entire community.
The Advisory Committee’s mission would be to identify barriers to opportunity, recommend practical solutions to improve access and inclusion, strengthen relationships among East Windsor’s diverse communities, and help ensure that every resident feels welcomed, respected, and represented. By creating this Committee, East Windsor can continue building a stronger, more connected community that reflects the values of fairness, respect, and opportunity for all.
